General anesthesia (or sleep dentistry) may be beneficial or necessary in some cases
Since IV sedation and other methods of sedation dentistry are so effective, general anesthesia, or sleep dentistry, is typically not necessary. However, it may be beneficial in some situations, such as with patients who have a high tolerance for medicines used with IV sedation, patients who suffer from severe anxiety, or more complex oral surgery procedures.
